- Customer needs regarding Hair Health.
8 out of 10 customers entering a hairdressing salon have some sort of hair abnormality, eg. dandruff, itchy scalp, excess oil, seborrheic dermatitis, hair loss, fragile hair, colour loss, and so on.
If 80% of a hairdresser's customers have the need to treat their skin and hair, who better than their hairdresser - who is the first person to detect them - to advise and treat those hair abnormalities? If we are not qualified due to lack of training or preparation, we run the risk that these customers might visit another similar establishment, with the difference that the other establishment generally does advise hair treatments, and may not only solve their problem, but the customer may as well like their way and their service in general. Quite surely, we would end up losing our customers.
Jaldún trains the professional hairdresser while taking into account these current customer needs. At Jaldún, we try to turn the 21st Century hairdresser's image into a specialist image, a hair technician. Customers increasingly and insistently demand from the hairdresser a higher attention and a better treatment of their hair problems, since we are the first ones who may detect any hair abnormality; our professional response must be to know the matter in our hands, the hair, the scalp, and respect the health-related law; otherwise, we may fall into negligence which sometimes may result in skin pathologies. (Jaldún offers training courses available to their customers on these matters, check the activities calendar).
- Efficiency and time profitability - using the busiest moments (Friday and Saturday) to provide Hair Health.
Trichology in hairdressing is usually complex to carry out, a hair diagnosis in very busy days such as Fridays or Saturdays is not usually cost-effective, since it requires investing an important amount of time exploring the scalp and having a conversation with the customer trying to detect the source of the problem. This amount of time delays the salon's work, and in most cases the customer is not willing to pay for this diagnosis.
Jaldún applies easy, quick and efficient ways in its work system to the protocol of skin and hair care at the salon, which allows hair health treatments in those busiest times.
Following these needs, Jaldún creates a user-friendly cosmetic product, where the whole line has a common aim - keeping and balancing the skin's biological functions. At the same time, it is designed to allow an easy to advise communication and application by any of the team members, from an assistant to the stylist or director of the salon, which favours the fact that the care and sale of the product is not only available to one of the team members. (These communication courses are available to Jaldún customers. Check the activities calendar).
- The scalp's balance - the fundamental base for a proper Hair Health.
At Jaldún, we consider hair follicles as invaginations of the epidermis, the basal layer or the germinative layer. The hair follicle and the sebaceous gland constitute an anatomical unit.
This folliculosebaceous unit is where hairs are produced, and we find additional structures of the dermis associated to them, such as: the papilla and the piloerector muscles, with which there is a strong anatomical and functional relationship. This is why we consider hair health as the cutaneous structure's health - anything affecting the epidermis affects the follicle to some extent, anything affecting the sebaceous or the sudoriferous gland affects the follicle.
Likewise, anything affecting any other systems in the organism affects our skin and our scalp.
To sum up, Jaldún considers hair health within a general health perspective.
Jaldún's primary objective is to keep and restore the balance of the skin's biological functions, to reinforce its correct activity and stimulate its self-restoring properties.
